Liam Lynch – Fake Depeche Mode Song

This CD contains some very funny and interesting fake songs, that COULD be original songs from the original artists, but surely aren’t. Look how Liam Lynch describes them: “The sound-alike songs on this album are out of respect. Obviously, to try to capture the musical and lyrical style of an artist, you have to listen to that artist a great deal. I see them as charicature songs, and they are ment as compliments”.

Lyrics of “Liam Lynch – Fake Depeche Mode Song”

Well I’m not pretty or good to the eye
Never left my room ’til 25
If I were happy would you punish me?
Tie me up and call it therapy

Miserable Life, Miserable Life
Miserable Life, Miserable Life
Miserable Life Miserable Life
Miserable Life (Life)

Let me be your perfect scratching post
Your father, son and your holy ghost
They vie devotion, turn my back on me
Don’t push me down and call me a woosy

Miserable Life Miserable Life
Miserable Life Miserable Life
Miserable Life Miserable Life (Life)

(Miserable Life) Devotion!
(Miserable Life) Emotion!
(Miserable Life) Depression!
(Miserable Life) Obsession!

You can’t see me ’cause I’m wearing black

Although I already owned all regular releases, I started "seriously" collecting Depeche Mode's releases from all over the world in the late 80s. But when the internet and espacially eBay came up, I wanted to specialise my collection, because with eBay it was not a question of "how to find a rarity?" anymore, but just a question of "who pays the most?". That was the start of my collection of Depeche Mode cover versions.

I really like it when artists create a completely new mood in a cover version. For me, the best covers are very often just unknown tracks on an artist's album, while many tribute compilations are just "sound-a-likes" without own creativity.
